Mr. Hamza Özgüler has been assigned as the director of the International Affairs  of  HPA

  April 6th,  2019 The Hydropolitics Association who has made rapid progress in developing international relations since the establishment, has become a member of  various water-related organisation, namely the World Water Council (WWC), European Water Resources Association (EWRA),  International Water Association (IWA), Central Asia and the Caucasus Association of Agricultural Research Institutions (CACAARI),  and International Hydropower Association (IHA)  during this period.  The Hydropolitics Association as a non-governmental organisation,  whose application for becoming  the consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council is about to be concluded, has signed scientific and technical cooperation protocols with the research centers of some universities in Turkey and abroad. For the recently emerging reasons,  such as the potentially increasing of foreign relations and also that Mr. Molla Gürani Koç, Director of the International Affairs Center for HPA, has left the Country and started to work abroad, The HPA Board of Directors evaluated the needs and decided to make a proposal to HPA member Mr. Hamza Özgüler to be the Director of this Center. With his confirmation, Mr. Hamza Özgüler was appointed on 6th of April, 2019, as the Director of HPA International Affairs Center. HPA President Mr. Dursun Yıldız thanks Mr. Molla Gürani Koç, the previous Director of the Center for his valuable work until now, adding that he believes Mr. Özgüler will be facilitating much further improvement of the  institutional affairs of HPA. HPA News. Who is Hamza ÖZGÜLER He was born in 1964.After receiving his B.Sc. Degree from Department of Meteorological Engineering, Istanbul Technical University, in 1984, he started serving for the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works (DSI) as a hydrological expert with meteorological background. He completed his post-graduate study on hydrology in the IHE, Delft in in 1989. In 2001, finalising the thesis study on the subject of “principle component analysis of river pollution in Meriç River”, he has received MSc degree from the Environmental Department of Hacettepe University, Ankara. Having more than 25 years of professional experience in a state organization, DSI,  his engineering specialisation area mainly includes project hydrology, water resources assessment, planning and management, environmental impact assessment as well. He has a good knowledge of UN System and international scientific programmes; good analytical and organizational skills. He played a critical and important role in preparatory process and structuring of the 5th World Water Forum, 2009. Before his retirement in 2012, he was serving as the Director of International Hydrological Relations in DSI. After retirement, keeping the member position of the Turkish National Hydrological Commission, he has been dealing with project hydrology as a senior hydrologist. Presently, he is serving as a consulting engineer with the expertise of water resources planning, basin wide flood management plans and hydrological designing of hydraulic structures. He is married, having two children. He is good in English, intermediate in French.     HPA News.
