Transboundary Basins meet for the fourth time to discuss climate change adaptation

On the occasion of the fourth meeting of the Global network of basins working on climate change adaptation organized in cooperation with INBO under the leadership of the Netherlands and Switzerland (on 14-15 February 2019), 15 transboundary basins from Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America gathered to discuss transboundary adaptation challenges. They shared their experiences in addressing water-related disasters; mainstreaming climate change adaptation into national strategies and plans and its financing. During the meeting, among others, the Niger Basin Authority shared information on how it developed the first transboundary basin project proposal funded by the Green Climate Fund as well as their activities to promote the Water Convention among the riparian countries. The meeting concluded with a call for further strengthening inter-sectoral cooperation in addressing climate change and capacity building for mobilizing funding for adaptation by the River Basin Organizations.
